RTC Sungai Rambai | Melaka

I come to know about RTC Sungai Rambai by listening to Melaka FM when I tuned in to 102.3 every morning while driving to work.

I am also happy when I see the Malaysian Agricultural Research & Development Institute playing a role at RTC.

An elderly man smiled and recognized me as I was videoing the Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran booth.  He is Mohd from Alor Gajah, and he reminded me that he first met me at the Stadium Hang Tuah during the Maulidur Rasul event last year.

It is very easy for you to go to RTC Sungai Rambai when you get onto AMJ Expressway and make sure you drive towards south if you are from Melaka city. In less than 30 minutes, you can’t miss this RTC landmark.

While you get served by RTC personnel, your children can enjoy the fun of a mini-playground but make sure they are accompanied.

A convoy by the Superbike Association of Malaysia had reached RTC Sungai Rambai on 10 September 2015 bersamaan 26 Z. Kaedah 1436H and the event was graced by YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, YAB Datuk Seri Ir. Hj. Idris Bin Hj. Haron and YB Datuk Hasan Bin Rahman.

The Sungai Rambai and the nearby community could now enjoy the facility of the Dewan RTC or the RTC Hall, air-conditioned for comfort of guests.

Now, guests and visitors do not have to worry about foods and drinks, because the Barisan Nasional Government’s administration has anticipated their needs. For that reason, a beautiful and clean cafeteria or Medan Selera is centrally-positioned to serve anyone.

Historical Reference

When Melaka was under the British Colonial Rule, the Mukim registration and the implementation of the 1886 land laws required more staff and for that reason, district offices were opened at Jasin in 1887 followed by Alor Gajah in 1889.

Sungai Rambai is under the jurisdiction of Jasin.

In 1885, a district hospital was set up in Jasin and it is lucky today that the Klinik 1Malaysia has come to RTC Sungai Rambai.

During the Japanese Occupation, the shuchokan divided Melaka into the same 3 districts as what the British had done; namely, Melaka Tengah, Alor Gajah and Jasin.

Rice has been Malaysian main food and about 7,000 acres of paddy fields were found within the Jasin district with some in Sungai Rambai.

In 1942, the people of Jasin including those in Sungai Rambai and together with the district of Alor Gajah, the planting of maize, tapioca and sweet potatoes had replenished the shortage of food.

46 years ago, Jasin and Alor Gajah had a combined population of about 5,000 with Sungai Rambai’s 450 headcount which ranked 20^th as per the Changes in Urban Rankings in Melaka State by Census Periods, 1921 to 1970.

The living activities of the past, people have enjoy the Sungai Kesang which debouched into the Straits of Melaka through once muddy, mangrove-bound esturaries. Tin ores have been extracted from the vicinities of Kesang in the past.
