Tin Dredge Malaya 25 cents stamp

We have heard of our friends in school spoken the Malay words, Kapal Korek. Some of us may have forgotten about this experience we had some four decades ago.

The Tanjung Tualang Dredge No. 5 was among the largest mining machine during the tin mining era of Malaysia. The tin together with the mud and the marshes conveyed to this Tanjung Tualang Dredge machine weighing about 4,500 tonnes. Then, tin miners gained hefty revenue.

However, you can see that the stamp displayed is much much older. The mining machine was very small.

Tin mining is one of the oldest industries in Malaya.

In 1979, Malaysia contributed about 31 % of world output.

This stamp is rare. And on top of it, tin mining stamp would not be printed again as this natural resources had depleted.
