Whisky Barrel

Cooper : A person skilled in making and repairing barrels, casks etc ~ vb

The history of the cooper in the making of Scotch whisky is as long and distinguished as that of the "Water of Life " itself. In the early days, wooden casks were used simply for storing the freshly distilled spirit. Later, it was discovered that oak casks previously used for sherry and port gave whisky unique and delicious flavours.

It is said that "the barrel makes the whisky", but never forget that it is the Cooper who makes the barrel. To celebrate his skill and knowledge, Old St. Andrews is proud to present their 10-year old malt in the distinctive whisky barrel.
