Cathay Cinema decorates Melaka

Cinema is a place people enjoy a moving picture. A moving picture is not an invention but a visual persistence where photography becomes illusion. The word, cinema, is coined in France. This an image of the Cathay Cinema in Melaka.

Can Cathay Cinema regain the people attention like before ?

Today Cathay Cineplexes is screening Skyfall 007. If cinemas are still the places for screening today, then the parking lots at the Cathay Cinema for the screening might not be enough to accommodate the film-goers. One suggestion for Cathay Cinema is like this…convert her role as a banquet/event/dinner hall for weddings, seminars and convention. If there are enough hall for banquet, event or dinner there is another way to make Cathay Cinema lively again. The cinema could serve as a role of the Film Museum. Or Film Library. Or the Hall of Fame. Maybe 3-in-1. If future up-coming photographers only continue to pick up the latest technique on photography they would produce great images, but they might not be able to equate “Kodak” with photography. Only a few would remember that Kodak Eastman was linked to George Eastman of Rochester. The museum could also served as a key center in this region not just to describe how the Kinetoscope Peep Show parlor became an entertainment to film-goers but also to house the artifacts of past actors and actresses. People in this region could than get close access to discover that films as entertainment had first taken place at Broadway in New York City on April 14, 1894.

Many might not know that the close-up, the fade-out and the dissolve that improved the style of motion picture was introduced by David Wark Griffith. The center could also educate how Warner Bros introduced sound in 1926. The origins of the art of acting could be housed to cover all films that were screened in this cinema in the past where we have enough experiences to  successfully done for the The P Ramlee Cyber Museum. There were many international blockbusters screened in the past in this cinema and that means there are many items and write-ups to show filled up this building. The international entertainment players could contribute to the success not just to provide collectibles items but also funds to run the center, if properly organized. Keeping the stage, modify the seating to expand space, apply e-lightings, install enough sound effects plus some professional advices from the movies creators, this place would be a 2nd tier after the regional Disneyland
(Read a little about: The Universal Studios http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2009/09/universal-studios-singapore-announces_27.html With close rapport with the entertainment circles, visiting actors and actresses, producers, directors and everyone linked with entertainment could find the place a ‘A Home Away from Home’ It could serve as a place for them to throw a party for the public, or to promote their latest movie, or to sell an exclusive live appearances, or a place of recruitment, and even as a marketing gateway to their base studios.

If this dream come true, the entertainment world would be able to promote attention and travel to this place year after year.
Just a dream work.
