KD TUN ABDUL RAZAK
This submarine has made 85% dives under the sea which is equivalent to 40 from 47 days of living at the sea. The coasting took 64 days which involved 7,283 nautical miles or 13,488 kilometers of journey passing through Mediterranean Sea, Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and Strait of Malacca.
Within the 68 days, they stopped by at 4 harbors which are Port Iskandariah (Egypt), Jeddah (Saudi Arabian), Salalah (Oman), and Cochin (India) for supplying purpose. This submarine has been fully operated by 21 officers andthe other 11 staff of the Royal Malaysian Navy.
The arrival at Lumut was welcomed by His Royal Highness Sultan Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah and Raja di Hilir Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa. Sultan Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Indris Shah, the captain of the Royal Malaysian Navy as well had sailed with the submarine from Langkawi, Kedah.
KD Tun Abdul Razak is the second submarine owned by the Royal Malaysian Navy. KD Tun Abdul Razak has been brought to Malaysia from Toulon, France on 30th April 2010 and it reached Malaysia on 2nd July 2010 at the dock of the Royal Malaysian Navy in Lumut.
The submarine has been legitimately handed to the Royal Malaysian Navy on 25th January. KD Tun Abdul Razak was named accordingly after the second Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Abdul Razak Hussein to respect his contribution towards the independence, modernisation, administration and also the development of the country.
This Scorpene class submarine is actually in a second trial phase of the Spain manufacturer, Navatia at Cartanega, Spain. This submarine has being used for under-surface war, surface level and anti-air battles. This submarine has been said as the most silence submarine and it is hard to be detected by the enemies. The diesel energy helped the submarine to be able to operate under 300 meters in depth.
