Netherlands
The Netherlands is a size of about 12,500 square miles or 32,000 square kilometers and her navigable canals and rivers is about 4,305 miles or 7,000 kilometers. The triangle of low land on the shores of the North Sea between France and Germany lies in the arms of the lower Rhine River and about the lower courses of the Meuse and the Scheldt.
The region has been known throughout history as the Low Countries, or the Netherlands, the word "nether" meaning "lower".

The Stadhuys which means the municapal town hall was built by the Dutch. Today, this site is declared a heritage site by the UNESCO.
The Stadhuys in 4 stories on the terrace of Saint Paul's Hill in Melaka which housed the Governor's Residence as early as the 18th. century. It served the Dutch Administrative Center till the 1824, 2 years before Malacca High School was established. The Stadhuys continued to serve the Melaka State Governing Centre until 1979.
If you are never in a rush, and put up a few days stay in Melaka, you would notice the preserved Dutch's architecture today in Melaka and they have resemblances to the Peace Place in The Hague, built in the early 1900's to house the many peace conferences held in the city. The International Court of Justice also meets here.
The Hague, is the world center for international law. The first great international jurist, Grotius, was a Hollander.
